Common Questions...

Q: What age should my child be to start this class?

A: When a child has the ability to follow directions and has a basic understanding of discipline. The child must have the ability to remember techniques and perform them in a sequences called “forms”.

Q: What do you teach with this group compared to the Shaolin Kids Class?

A: We cover advanced techniques used for various types of fighting. Not all techniques used will be something the children will use to defend themselves. The philosophy of Shaolin are to preserve life, not to take it. Children will learn the difference between defending one’s self and using lethal force.

Q: How long will my child stay in this class before they may progress to the adult class?

A: All children learn at different levels. Some factors include, maturity, body size, and self discipline. On average ages 13 and up progress into the adult classes.

Q: What if my child doesn’t want to go into the next ranking level and they are not ready?

A: No pressure should ever be given to the child about going to the next ranking level. This class is designed to be fun and exciting to the them. If parents or teachers give excessive amounts pressure for a child to do something they are not ready for, the child will resist it. We always strive for everyone to do their best. That idea is the foundation of Shaolin. However we want people of all ages to progress at their own pace and not to compare themselves with others.

Young children will begin in this class. Here at Traditional Shaolin Kung Fu we have an excellent children's program designed to improve confidence, self esteem, and empower your child. Get your child active in something that will not only last more than a season, but an entire lifetime. Discipline is taught from day one. Shaolin Kung Fu teaches children how to respect themselves as well as others. Every child is unique and because of this we try to develop the child’s individualism using their natural gifts and talents. Do something that will protect your children, give them self confidence, and give them the tools they need to become a success!

The Shaolin Kids program is a unique class designed to help with focusing on the basics of Shaolin Kung Fu. Emphasis is placed on stretching and proper technique. This will prepare them for the next level. Most of all this class is fun for the kids and helps keep them healthy and active.
